In 1881, Belle immigrated to the United States with her first husband, Mads Sorenson. They settled in Chicago, where they had four children. However, tragedy struck when Mads died in 1884, leaving Belle a widow with four young children to support.

A Trail of Broken Hearts and Empty Pockets

After Mads' death, Belle married several times, each time to a man who was significantly older and wealthier than herself. These marriages often ended tragically, with the husbands dying under suspicious circumstances, leaving Belle with substantial life insurance payouts.

Belle's string of dead husbands and her increasing wealth raised suspicions among her neighbors and the authorities. In 1908, she moved to La Porte, Indiana, with her two surviving children, Myrtle and Lucy. There, she Free Downloadd a farm and began advertising for male suitors through lonely hearts columns in newspapers.

The Murder Farm

Belle's farm soon became known as the "Murder Farm." One by one, her suitors arrived, only to disappear without a trace. As suspicions grew, authorities launched an investigation that uncovered a gruesome scene.

On April 28, 1908, investigators discovered the bodies of 14 men buried on Belle's property. The bodies had been dismembered and burned, and some showed signs of torture. Among the victims were Belle's three husbands: Sorenson, Peter Gunness, and Andrew Helgelien.

Theories and Unanswered Questions
